I am very honored and humbled to serve as Grand High Priestess for 2024-2025 year.  Traveling across North America visiting the Courts, I have had the opportunity to visit with friends and make new friends.  We have the same goal – Helping the Children.  When you visit one of the Shrine Children’s Hospitals or Outpatient Clinics, one realizes “Why we do, What we do!”  We help to change the lives of Children.

The Special Project for 2024-2025 is “Treating With Love and Care, A Burn Child’s Body, Mind and Soul.”  This Special Project is very personal to me.  It is in honor and memory of my mother and a very good friend’s son, John. My Mother was burned in a home accident involving a grease fire.  She spend months at the Scottish Rite Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.  This was in 1944; Galveston, Boston, Dayton or Northern California were not on the drawing boards yet.  Mother survived.  John was only 17 when he was in a horrible car accident that caught fire.  John did not survive. 

I think about how far the care and treatment for children with burns have progressed thanks to Shriners Children’s hospitals and the research being done by these wonderful facilities.  The funds shall be used to directly focus on the services for the burn patients, i.e., Emergent Burn Care, Scar Management, Behavioral Health, Child Life and others.  Together, we are changing the lives of Children.
