“Make Children Whole” To Live Independent & Productive Lives

Occupational Therapy helps children and adults with disabilities become independent and productive in doing the things that they have to do, want to do, and need to do!

This specialty therapy promotes meaningful participation in the activities of daily life through the teaching of skills and adaptions, despite physical or cognitive disabilities that may be present.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS ENHANCE INDEPENDENCE IN:

  1. basic daily activities, eating, dressing, bathing, grooming, brushing teeth, tying shoes, going to the toilet, and transferring
  2. with leisure and education tasks: using writing utensils, keyboard uses, riding a bike, drawing or playing games
  3. within work place: how to have proper ergonomics, learn how to use different machinery and tools, how to adapt workplaces with technology
  4. In more complex daily activities: preparing meals, using a telephone or computer, managing finances or the daily  medication regimen, shopping and driving

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS:

  1. have continuing education and are licensed therapists
  2. have the necessary adaptive equipment to make life easier
  3. do a holistic comprehensive evaluation with children and their families to have client centered care
